Biography

Dr. Lu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Engineering Technology at North Carolina A&T State University (NCAT). He has over fifteen years of experience in all kinds of materials for energy conversion and storage applications. Prior to joining NCAT, he was a Senior Research Scientist at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) and working on all types of batteries (e.g., Li-ion, Na-ion, and Na metal batteries), fuel cells (e.g., solid oxide fuel cells, proton-exchange membrane fuel cells, etc.), supercapacitors, magnetic materials, etc. His current research interests at NCAT include Na batteries, Li-ion batteries, redox flow batteries, and solid-state electrolytes (e.g., polymer electrolytes, ceramic electrolytes, etc.) Dr. Lu has published more than 60 papers in peer reviewed professional journals, 2 book chapters, and 10 U.S. patents (including pending).

Research

Batteries (e.g., Na batteries, Li-ion batteries, redox flow batteries), fuel cells (e.g., solid oxide fuel cells, Zn-based fuel cells), and solid-state electrolytes (e.g., polymer electrolytes, ceramic electrolytes, composites)
